Our Pet Care Policies and Procedures

Please be sure to confirm your reservation with me directly.  I can not accept messages left by phone or e-mail as an actual pet sitting reservation.  This policy will prevent pets from being left alone, due to a missed message.  When you make an advanced reservation for pet sitting, I will call you to confirm the date(s) 24-48 hours in advance.  If you do not hear from me, please call me to confirm your dates.

Call When You Return
Please remember to call when you return home from your trip.  I will leave a detailed note of how your pets did, time of last visit and ask that you call if you have not already done so.  This is to prevent any added visits that are not necessary. 

Visits are scheduled from 5:00 am - 8:00 pm.  Each visit will be approximately 30 minutes long.  In the case of extreme weather conditions, I will get to your pet as soon as it is safely possible.  If you are going away during the winter season, please be sure to make arrangements to have your driveway cleared of snow before my scheduled visit. 

In the unlikely event that I am personally unavailable to provide a scheduled visit, I do have fully qualified and trusted individual to fill in for me and care for your pet(s).  You will always be notified, in advance, if a substitute caregiver will be used.

If you would like a "quick" let out visit at a discounted rate (15 min.), please inquire.  (Note: This service is only available to my regular weekly clients and does not include an afternoon walk.)

Please cancel regularly scheduled daily visits by 10 am or there will be a charge as usual.  For all other sits, I understand that unexpected things can happen.  Please cancel before the first visit and there will be no charge and I will refund your money.  There are No refunds for early returns.  You will, however, be credited for the number of unused visits, the next time you schedule pet sitting services.

I charge $10.00 extra on the following holidays: New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Note: I may not always be available for pet sitting during the holidays, since I occasionally have family gatherings and other obligations outside of the local area.  If I expect to be unavailable for pet sitting for holidays or any other signficant period of time, I will do my best to inform you of this well in advance to aid in your planning. Thank you for your understanding.

Payment & Charges
Payment is due upon start of service.  Please leave a check made payable to Theresa Brown or the proper amount in cash to be picked up on my first visit.  I can not accept credit cards at this time. For regular scheduled dog walks during the week payment is due on Friday.  (Other payment arrangements can be made, if needed)

There will be a $15.00 service charge, in addition to actual product purchase price, for the pick up of any needed pet sitting supplies including food, cat litter, paper towels etc.  Please make sure you leave enough food supplies for the full time that you expect to be away from home.

Returned checks will be charged a $20.00 service fee.

Veterinary Notice
 If you will be traveling, please inform your veterinarian that you will be using my services during the time you are away.  Please also provide me with specific contact information for your local veterinarian.  In addition, I will need a list of any medications, allergies or other medical conditions your pet might have or any special care needed..

Job Sharing & Third Parties
Please inform me of any other person (relative, neighbor, contractor, cleaning service, etc) having permission to access your home while you are away. 

Invisible Fencing
I am the proud owner of an Invisible Fence, however I will not leave dogs outside with invisible fencing in between visits.  I will not leave dogs tied outside or on runs in between visits.  For dogs to be left outside during the day they must have a securely fenced in yard.  

I cannot pet sit for any animals that are left outside over night.  No exceptions.

If you plan to use my services weekly/frequently I will gladly hold on to your key. All customer keys are kept in a secure place in my home. Otherwise, I will leave the key on the last visit. There will be a fee for key pick up/drop off for repeat service.   Please DO NOT give me your only key!
